In1977, Fisher Price promoted the Little People Sesame Street Clubhouse by creating a gigantice model of it. The happy memories I had playing with this toy are only slightly shadowed by the original Sesame Street set by FP. I look at this thing and it cheers me up, always will.
I need to know if this still exists somewhere, come on interwebs do your magic, we tracked down Oscar Goldman's Briefcase in minutes, let's do this! Also, I'm less than two hours away, if this is in somebody's garage or attic, I would kill to come photograph it. Seriously, look at that giant Bert!
If you're a
kid of the 1970s, chances are the sight of the limbless cherubic Fisher Price
Little people will bring a smile to your face.
These simple (and indestructable!) toys were the
deserved kings of the preschool aisle during the polyester decade
Here are the top ten Fisher Price Little People Sets:
10) Sesame Street Clubhouse
Ok, so there was never a clubhouse on Sesame Street, nobody cared because this set was jam packed with features like a trap door, revolving door and a tire swing. Not to mention interesting graffiti professing David's love for Maria, which must make Luis crazy to this day!
Sesame Street turned 45 this week and honestly, I felt like I should have gotten it something. So in honour of this momentous occasion, I'm going to try and make my desktop look like this wonderful device.
Sure, my blogging will suffer but I'll be happier overall....
I have no idea what Bert and Ernie have to do with office equipment but I need a working set straight away, if only to torture my wife with my "Mr Tudball from the Carol Burnett show" impersonation.
For the trillionth time I'd like to mention any of these in an adult size would be welcome in my house. Get on that anonymous corporation that doesn't read my blog!
This is not fashion mockery, this is fashion victory.
I vaguely remember these target sets from toy shows, the art is classic DC style guide with the exception of that very disgruntled Wonder Woman. However, the sets below are not only a total shock but I now have a new quest in life...
I absolutely LOVE the mingling of Spider-Man with the characters from the Electric Company on merchandise. The teaming up of Spidey with Fargo North doesn't happen often enough for me. They should do a big treasury edition together, it'll sell dozens!
If you have these in your collection, let me know they exist, please?
It's time once again to be whisked back to a simplier time, one that was dominated by "Mom and Pop" toy chains and the wonderful, almost chaotic way toys were distributed.
Plaidstallions Vintage Toy Store Photos volume twelve is different from previous entries in that it features images from a photo album of a former Mattel employee, who seemed to in charge of taking shots of retail displays and while Mattel stuff is in the foreground, there sure is a lot of neat stuff going on in the background as well.
I'm happy to announce that this find of photos insures that volume 13 and 14 will follow shortly this year as well. Until then enjoy a nice view of vintage polaroid goodness with the likes of Barbie, Hot Wheels, Battlestar Galactica, Heroes in Action and the gang at Sesame Street.
