5 Awesome Things on eBay this week

Starblazers gumball machine card from Japan- As any loyal reader of this blog might know, I have a gigantic love for Star Blazers. Also, I had zero merchandise as a kid. Had I seen this display of Japanese Keshi as a child, I'd have mugged old ladies (namely my grandmother) for quarters until I had every single character and ship on this card, AHGHHHH!

Logan's Run Iron On Transfer- I've had some bad luck with vintage Iron-Ons lately but I'm sorely tempted by this original one from the 1970s.

Fantasy Island Poster Art Set- I love all things Fantasy Island and feel like I should point this out, even though I feel the seller might be a little optimistic about that price? I know there is a modest budget horror movie coming out but hey fella, calm down. Still, this is a beautiful set by Craft Master.

Vintage Star Wars Promo poster from Cascade- I've never seen these before and I miss the era when we'd bug our moms to buy a certain brand of dishwashing detergent because...Star Wars! I think I just miss caring about stuff like this in general.

Big Jim store display from Germany- I'm not certain about the price of this but I love Big Jim and Store displays so I felt like sharing it with the world. If you are into Big Jim and have Richie Rich's allowance, here you go!

Superfriends vs the Burger Gang

I vividly remember that day in 1976 when I walked into the Eatons (RIP) toy department and saw the Remco McDonaldland Characters right next to the Mego World's Greatest Superheroes, for a brief, nanosecond there was doubt but my love for Superheroes outweighed my love for fast food.

Also, they were sold out of Grimace....

Italian for Stretch Monster

The word "Stretch" I assume doesn't translate well in Italy. Coincidently "Mister Monstro" was also my wrestling name that one, magical summer in Tijuana....

Five Awesome Things on eBay this week

Bigfoot and Wildboy T-Shirt Iron ON- One of my favorite Saturday mornings shows growing up, even though I do wonder how it ever got made. They were the greatest Father and Adopted Son Superhero duo next to Batman and whathisface.

Planet of the Apes Dr. Zaius- Mix 'N Mold set: As a Planet of the Apes fan, I can't believe I've never owned one of these especially considering how you can find some of them (like the good doctor here) for a decent price. This will become a problem once I pay off my Christmas credit cards.

Imperial Toys Rubber "Grizzly" from the movie "Grizzly"- Remember when everyone tried to get the next "Jaws"? Well Grizzly was "Jaws" but with a bear! Imperial Toys flush with Jaws money scooped up the licensed for it and made rubber bears. Nobody really cared and Grizzly is something of a forgotten exploitation gem but I personally love stuff like this.

Universal Studios Jaws Pennant- Oh I don't know what i like more, the original Jaws or that ride. I went on that thing on my honeymoon for crapssakes. This pennant is tempting but this is post-Christmas so my budget probably won't do.

Black Hole Humanoid Mask from Italy- As readers of this blog know, I adore Disney's "The Black Hole" and seeing this children's mask of the lobotomized slaves of Dr. Reinhart (SPOILERS) is just so wonderfully wrong-headed. I will have to own one of these someday....

Home Bars: 1976

I know it sounds weird but home bars filled with weird swizzle sticks and glasses from "You keep the glass" specials at restaurants feel like childhood to me and always will...

Toy-Ventures: GI Joe's' The Intruders

Before Destro, before Cobra Commander and just a year before Gor King of the Terrons, GI joe met his first official bad guy in the Intruders, Strong Men from another world. The Intruders are alien cavemen who want to take over the world and probably get some shoes. Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Bat Chute!

What you see before is the first, to my knowledge, officially licensed Superhero parachute figure. This bold pioneer paved the way for the madness that was the 1970s parachuting figure craze.

What I find insane is they created store displays to sell these, complete with a fan! I don't own this but I admire the heck out of it.

Five Awesome Things on eBay this week

The Incredible Hulk Kit- I used to own one of these, they're Canadian made and the rumour was Universal or Marvel shut down production of these. It's an interesting piece as very little merchandise was actually based on the series.

70s PopCorn Art Dracula- I actually have a cardboard version of this guy and display him every Halloween, this is tempting.

Spider-Woman Mall Appearance Photo- I collect these and also, have had a crush on Spider-Woman since I was eight. If I had the dosh right now I'd buy this but i'm a little broke so I thought I would share instead.

Space:1999 Utility Belt: Remco Utility belts are the collection I never really had, I only own two currently and that number is pretty stagnant, I can't believe this has no bidders as it's a total classic.

Action Bill and Jerry Outfit- I love GI Joe Knock-Offs, especially European ones because weirdness occurs. Action Bill and Jerry's illustration looks like a yellow pages ad for a barbershop and that's incredible.

SHAMELESS PLUG DEPARTMENT: I'm selling some stuff and will continue to do so please click the photo below and tell your friends. Thank you.

Pod Stallions 74: Question Time

Our newest PodStallions doesn't really have a topic but is a concept that Jason had, where we just ask each other personal questions relating to why we are the way we are. Topics include collecting during high school, giving it all up and first pop culture crushes.

Please  give us spirited debate in our new Facebook group.

Five Awesome Things on eBay this Week

Return of Swamp Thing Print signed by Jim Wynorski- I have a real soft spot for this movie and for director Jim Wynorski. So when I found out Jim was selling these autographed prints, I wanted to promote them. These limited edition items are also signed by composer Chuck Cirino. I insist you buy this.

Inflatable Jaws toy by Imperial- I seriously love Jaws and i hope all the stories about remaking it aren't true. I don't know why I don't have more JAWS merch but for some reason, I've never gone there. This wonderful piece has the Jaws logo on its fins as it totally should?

STAR TEAM Set- This week's Toy Ventures episode was about the Knight of Darkness, so I thought this collection was interesting. All you need is a Zeorid and Star Hawk and you can make George Lucas "pee his pants" furious by acting out their adventures.

REMCO SUPERMAN UTILITY BELT- Next to the Hulk, Superman is the one character who probably doesn't need a belt full of gadgets.I mean, look at this stuff, can you imagine Superman using handcuffs and a communicator?

Yet, I want to own this someday, damn you REMCO!

Display box of Laurel and Hardy Erasers- Rejoice Gen-Xers, we are the last generation to be marketed Laurel and Hardy merchandise and we are better for it. I have no recollection of these but yet they feel vaguely familiar and oh sooooo friendly.......

Toy-Ventures- The Greatest Star Wars Knock Off?

This week's Toy Ventures is all about the bootleg toy series "Warrior from beyond the Stars" which is actually a knock off of a Star Wars Knock Off! Also Batman is thrown in for good measure, why not? Check out these weird and wonderful toys with me! Star Wars at Simpson's

We had to drive a bit to get to a Simpson's store growing up but their catalogs and robust toy sections will forever be etched into some happy childhood memories. I fondly remember browsing that section in the early 1980s, they also had some really cool stuff on clearance when I was in college, I miss them.

Thee three packs seem to be a big deal in the collector market these days.
