1941, Sure to be the biggest hit of the year.

For the record, 1941 wasn't the biggest hit of 1979 (it was 24th), that title went to "Kramer Vs Kramer" but had much more disappointing merchandise.

1941 was my fave movie when I was a kid! So many one liners!! Unfortunately my one and only date with Alison Marks was to the above-mentioned Kramer vs Kramer, needless to say it didn't go very well! In an alternate universe one of the Kramer's was Kramer from Seinfeld, totally different film!! -Mark J

Loved that movie even though the critics hated it.

Wonder how long the lead time was on the creation of this ad? When 1941 premiered, Belushi and Aykroyd were no longer on SNL.

Didn't they manufacture a Kramer vs Kramer watering can?

This Anon sees what you did there Jon Pall, and that's sooo true.

The vendor promotion did make good on how prevalent the ads were using the "exciting artwork". Just about every comic-book line had ads for it throughout 1980.

Always got the impression the ads were trying for a much, much longer run in the theaters than the movie had.

Love that line about SNL being "popular with the kids." It's just icing on the cake that they'd already left the show. You really get a feel for just how clueless studio execs were, are and always will be.

I actually have no memories of this film, other than Dianne Kay being adorable and a Ferris wheel running amok, which was always a recurring nightmare for me anyway. Maybe it's time to try another viewing.

There was no Kramer vs. Kramer watering can, but there was a barf bag for those who had to sit through 2 hours of Streep and Hoffman.

I can think of plenty of 1979 movies that I prefer, and I have a few of them: Breaking Away, Roller Boogie, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, The Black Hole, Moonraker.

I didn't see any of these in the movie theater. Instead I was subjected to Apocalypse Now. I should have declined the invitation.
