Superfriends vs the Burger Gang

I vividly remember that day in 1976 when I walked into the Eatons (RIP) toy department and saw the Remco McDonaldland Characters right next to the Mego World's Greatest Superheroes, for a brief, nanosecond there was doubt but my love for Superheroes outweighed my love for fast food.

Also, they were sold out of Grimace....

Italian for Stretch Monster

The word "Stretch" I assume doesn't translate well in Italy. Coincidently "Mister Monstro" was also my wrestling name that one, magical summer in Tijuana....

Home Bars: 1976

I know it sounds weird but home bars filled with weird swizzle sticks and glasses from "You keep the glass" specials at restaurants feel like childhood to me and always will...

Toy-Ventures: GI Joe's' The Intruders

Before Destro, before Cobra Commander and just a year before Gor King of the Terrons, GI joe met his first official bad guy in the Intruders, Strong Men from another world. The Intruders are alien cavemen who want to take over the world and probably get some shoes. Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Bat Chute!

What you see before is the first, to my knowledge, officially licensed Superhero parachute figure. This bold pioneer paved the way for the madness that was the 1970s parachuting figure craze.

What I find insane is they created store displays to sell these, complete with a fan! I don't own this but I admire the heck out of it.

Pod Stallions 74: Question Time

Our newest PodStallions doesn't really have a topic but is a concept that Jason had, where we just ask each other personal questions relating to why we are the way we are. Topics include collecting during high school, giving it all up and first pop culture crushes.

Please  give us spirited debate in our new Facebook group.

Star Wars at Simpson's

We had to drive a bit to get to a Simpson's store growing up but their catalogs and robust toy sections will forever be etched into some happy childhood memories. I fondly remember browsing that section in the early 1980s, they also had some really cool stuff on clearance when I was in college, I miss them.

Thee three packs seem to be a big deal in the collector market these days.

My new Workout routine!

Time to get in shape people, my morning routine involves rowing and then a grueling four hours on the slender bender:

Followed by a brisk 45 minutes on the Twist-a-Ciser!

Then i wind down with a relaxing session with my belt massager (No fooling, I own one of these and they're awesome)

I'm gonna look great at the beach this summer....

Toy-Ventures: The Incredible Doctor Steel

We return with an exhaustive look at one of the most iconic action figures of the 1970s, the enforcer with a ghastly gleaming hand, the incredible Dr. Steel. We explore the character's origins, many foreign iterations, knock offs and all the different variations. Special thanks to Pascal Pinteau for his amazing help with this one, To order his magical book "Big Jim: Un Monde D'Adventures" click here: https://amzn.to/37qi0dW Hosted and edited by Brian Heiler (@plaidstallions) PlaidStallions Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/Plaidstallio... Pod Stallions 73: Guilty Pleasures?

Our last podcast of the year began with the premise of Guilt Pleasures but evolved live into a discussion of whether or not the concepts should exist anymore at all.

This episode covers a ton of ground and includes a variety of topics including Jim Wynorski, Life Force (again), Hallmark channel movies, comfort food, there is a whole point where we just fanboy about the Watchman and we crescendo into Jason's new friendship with Rian Johnson. It's one of the most fun experiences we've had in taping this show and honestly, that's saying a lot.

Also, I'm super sorry about the sound quality, i've already made some purchases to fix that in the new year.

Toy-Ventures: Popy TV Heroes

Toy-Ventures this week is all about the Mego Inspired line by Popy of Japan where they took the concept of the "World's Greatest Superheros" but used their own homegrown TV Superheroes at the time. It resulted in 8" Mego like figures of Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets to us) and Battle Fever J.  Hosted and edited by Brian Heiler (@plaidstallions)

Official Star Trek pinball game by AHI

I am a total sucker for mid 70s Star Trek merch, the fonts, the bright colours, the flames shooting out of the Enterprise combined with a complete and total disregard for any sort of cohesiveness, nirvana.

I will require a Space:1999 Pinball game.
