Another colouring book I found rummaging through  Planet of the Stuff a couple of weeks ago.

Like a lot of 70s kids, I non-ironically stood in a mirror going "Ayyyyy!" and begged my parents for a leather jacket. I loved Happy Days, had a Mego Fonize doll and even bought the (lame) Gold Key comic, so it seemed fitting that this would be a fun colouring book to review here.

However all that positive energy leaked out when I realized this book was from 1983, a time when Fonzie was a 35 year old shadow of himself and most of the interesting cast members were long since gone, paving way for a big pile of who gives a crap.

I Dream of Jeannie

I think the most interesting thing about Remco's I Dream of Jeannie line isn't that it was probably a good idea, it was that it was released years after both the original and animated series were long gone from the air waves.

Jeannie's sales were largely due to the power of syndication just like Mego Star Trek and Our Gang, the real merchandising blitz happened after the show was off the air waves.

Aaay, Fonzie!

This little picture is another thing that I love about toy catalogs. You see, in 1976 Mego rushed the Fonz doll to the market place but his friends and his trademark motorcycle would have to wait until 1977.

JC Penney offered the Fonz with this fill in motorcyle, it probably wasn't even made by Mego and looks nothing like Fonzies bike. I kind of want one.

Yep, this happened
