Kooky Spooks unmasked a winner in 1979

I have no personal memory of Kooky Spooks and I'd like to think I'd remember seeing a kid with a pool toy on his head. Any happy memories?

I never wore one of these, nor did I know anyone who did, but I absolutely remember these! There were commercials on TV for them a lot, and I would see them in stores.

I also remember thinking they were bad costumes, and I think most others believed that too! Then again, they were sold for many years, so someone must have bought them!

Remember them, too, but never had any. Seems so silly now!

I recall seeing Kooky Spooks costumes in commercials and at the local seasonal Halloween stores as a kid. I don't think I knew anybody who owned one though.

Oh yes, I had one. The Bat! Goofy as hell, but I remember being so excited!

"...sold out everywhere they were properly displayed." Nice way to weasel out of any bad sales figures.

Don't remember these at all and can't believe any kid would have wanted to wear them. I think I was a Cylon that year.

Here in 2019 I don't think most eyes would make it all the way up to the inflatable creature on top before a riot broke out.

Good point. Here's an '81 TV commercial, by which time it looks like they had gotten smart enough to change the face paint color: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98Y3-46PHkw

I certainly had one of these and many kids of the late 70's/early 80's in the midwest had them.

A situation only exacerbated by the brand name.... "Kooky Spooks". XD
