Na-Na-Na-Na Bat Boat!

Kudos to Matt for breaking my long drought of Mall Appearance photos with this awesome shot of Batman in his boat from Sea World. He's also promised some home movies, which I'm excited to see, I don't say that very often.

Best Wishes from Batman and Wonder Woman

click for a larger version

My pal Scott hooked me up with this incredible "autographed" promotional photo of Sea World Batman and Wonder Woman, I now owe him a coke. I don't think I've ever seen this particular image and while wall space is limited in the lair, this one is getting framed.

Meanwhile....at Sea World

It's been a while since I've had a Mall Appearance submission (l'il help?) so I was happy to find this image of the Justice League of Sea World in my stacks. I never got to see this for myself, so I love getting images like this. I'll never get over the inclusion of Mera into this show, somebody cared.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Seaworld and Superheroes

A couple of years ago I got a friendly email asking me if I'd ever spoken to any of the folks who actually participated in the Superheroes at Sea World show. I wrote the person back and said no but if they ever did I'd love to hear about it. Then I just forgot it, probably because I saw something shiny.

Well, thankfully Marc Tyler Nobleman didn't forget it as he's done an incredible amount of research into the subject and uncovered some incredible photographs and new information with his new blog series, here are some tidbits I didn't know:
  • Much like the Mego World's Greatest Superheroes, Tarzan was injected into the Justice League.
  • Perry White, Lois and Jimmy Olsen were also involved. Although I presume that Perry White stayed dry
  • The Green Arrow and not (as previously reported here) Aquaman was known for the death defying high dive.

I could go on and on but you might as well check it out for yourself, if you've ever had a question about the whole Seaworld Superhero experience, it's probably answered in this wonderful blog series.

Aquaman's Death Defying Stunt

Jonathan sent these awesome photos of his family's trip to sea world in, explaining that we've never mentioned Aquaman's dive from a tower into a ring of fire before. He's right, I hadn't heard of that stunt but it seems totally appropriate for the King of the Sea to handle it over that spotlight hogging caped crusader.

A great shot of the soggy Justice League, Jonathan submitted more photos, which I'll get to next week.

A big old high five to Jonathan for being my Superhero and showing us these great glimpses into Seaworld past.

A Ride in the Bat Boat

Bob sent in this incredible shot of him and the caped crusaders at Sea World and an incredible story, I'll let him explain:

"An employee picked me out of the stands, 'cos I was reading a gigantic "treasury edition" size comic book (reprint of the original Flash comic) that I bought on site.

He asked if I wanted a ride on the Batboat.
The ride was a fast blur, and seemed to last about 10 seconds.
Robin carried me ashore, running.

I looked down and saw their feet.
Batman's "boots" covered the shins, but ended at the ankle -- his feet were bare.
THAT is how I knew they weren't the REAL Batman and Robin
"

So not only am I envious of anyone who got to see this show but I'm doubly envious of you Bob. Thanks for sharing this fantastic photo and memory.

Aquaman and his queen visit the surface world

Another wonderful contribution from Matt S, this time it's the King of the Sea himself Aquaman and his super sexy and under utilized wife Mera performing appropriate water ski stunts for the crowd at Sea World. When you think about it, this really should have been his show....

Scene from the new Green Lantern Movie

Ok, apologies for the misleading title but wouldn't the new Green Lantern movie be so much better if it had a scene where Ryan Reynolds leads the entire Justice League to victory via water skis? Hunh?
Many, many thanks to Matt S for these fab pictures, more to come.

Trapped in the Magic Lasso

Third in our series of wonderful contributions to the site from Dan, this time we see Wonder Woman capturing the penguin. This is like a live action version of one of my favourite Mego toys:

The Penguin Strikes!

Second in our series of wonderfulcontributions to the site from Dan, this time we see Wonder Woman about to encounter the Penguin. I'd like to make a comment about how I've seen better Penguin outfits but I honestly haven't, the only other Pengun I've seen came from this show. Stay tuned next week for the thrilling conclusion!

Wonder Woman struts her stuff

This is is the first of many cool contributions to the site from Dan, the shot above is a great pic of the Wonder Woman from the show. I'd have been fooled as a kid.

More Superheroes at Sea World

I got a nice email from Tony who works for the Florida memory department about the website he works on called Florida Memory which catalogs photos from the state of Florida. I have a lot of fond childhood memories of visiting Florida so I've accrued a few hours surfing through this incredible site. Here are a couple of low res samples but I encourage you to visit the site and explore for yourself. The Terrific Trio, I admit it, I have a Batgirl fetish.
This billboard gives me chills, although it does seem to have some scale issues.
Aquaman is tall!
Thanks Tony and for more awesome images like these, visit FloridaMemories.com

Sea World Superheroes The Movie!

Oh my stars, I am happy man today thanks to the wonderful person who posted this video of his family's trip to Sea World in 1979. The resulting two minutes are both goofy and glorious as you get to see surreal images such as Aquaman and Mera gracefully waterskiing, Joker and Captain Cold performing magic tricks then getting away on a jet ski, a high dive into a pool of flames, more waterskiing and then Green Lantern's terrible run. I am a man fufilled today as the mystery is finally solved, bless you AVSEAL2012.

The Terrific Trio

It's hard to make out but that's Batman and Robin hoisting Batgirl on their shoulders in the picture from SeaWorld. This scene isn't far removed from something you'd see on the 1966 series.

This picture is again courtesy of Steve C.

The Bat Boat Zooms In

The Dynamic Duo swoop in on their sweet, sweet bat boat in this great shot from Sea World.

This picture is again courtesy of Steve C. and it's just cementing my belief that I missed out on something.

Fist Fighting Superheroes at Sea World

batman and robin fight the joker at sea world
A little "Bif Bang Pow" today as the Dynamic Duo engage in a little fisticuffs with the Joker and Penguin at Sea World.

This picture is again courtesy of Steve C. and I love the henchman carrying the
"Pow!" sign in the background, it not only shows the influence the 1966 TV show still had ten years later but the show's low rent charm.

The Superheroes fool around on the beach

flash waterskis at sea world
If you're a little bummed today about missing Comic Con, just remember those people are all in a hot sweaty crowd and none of them are going to see a picture of the Flash Waterskiing today.

This picture is the start of a new series thanks to the donations from my new bestest pal Steve C. How cool is this? I mean Superman is playing muscle beach with his cousin while Batgirl watches and the Flash....is......waterskiing.
This image is pretty much what is going on in my head most of the time, if you add beer and the occasional sandwich.

The Joker at Sea World Part 2

This is without a doubt my favourite picture from JD, the Joker and the Riddler getting harrassed by the dynamic duo, not only do you get a view of the Sea World stage but the Bat Boat as well! The more I see of this show, the more I realise that I really missed out as a kid. Grrrrr!

The Joker at Sea World Part 1

JD strikes again with this amazing shot of the Joker and his hench man from the Sea World superheroes show. I find the joker mask they use really creepy but yet, I cannot look away.
