Marvel Heroes : Live and In Person

I went to one of these as a kid (at my local Woolco) and my mum exposed all the film. This lead me with an obsession to finding another kid who has photos of this event and to the creation of my next book "Mall of Justice". Steve Austin's Belt Buckle- Ok so it's not the exact one but it's the same one the Six Million Dollar man wore. Anything that gets me closer to looking like Lee Majors is a good thing, also I imagine he smells really good.

70s Star Wars rip off parachute guy from Spain- This hits an incredible amount of buttons for me, if it's already sold it's because I caved and bought this.

Captain America Movie Viewer Catridge- How weird is it that Cap was marketed under the Walt Disney Brand 40 years before that happened? Also, I just know this is clips of those weirdly animated Krantz cartoons, so i want it more.

Berwick Dalek Playsuit from 1965- Even though this came out many years before I did, I love Doctor Who and the Daleks. Also, I find the wonderful simplicity of this toy very appealing.

Ideal J,J Armes Mobile Investigation Unit- I remember seeing this commercial as a kid and wanting it for that entire Saturday and then moving onto something else I guess, childhood is funny like that. 

While Armes himself is a real PI with different mechanical hands, he never had a cool ride like this, I totally checked.

Super Team!

No, this isn't a still from the upcoming Justice League movie (it's too bright for one thing) this my friends is from a clever late 70s promotion for a company that seems to brilliantly pioneer what we call "Cosplay" today. Take a better look after the jump. You'll be glad you did.

The 1970s were truly a golden era for the stunt vehicle toy concept although I'm pretty sure this type of toy never truly goes out of style.

Super Babies!

The Amsco Super Babies never warmed to me as a superhero loving kindergartener, I was well into Mego action figures by this point and Shazam's inaccurate red hair bugged me even then. As an adult, I think they're one of the most charming bits of 70s Superhero merch.

 I'm pleased top announce that things have almost returned to normal here and I'll be updating the site again. Thanks to everyone for the kindness.

Super Heroes by Croner

I found this catalog from Croner, an Australian toy distributor that carried alot of US items by companies like MPC and Azrak-Hamway International.

Nothing that I haven't seen before but it's nice to end a week looking at stuff like this.




That Captain America kite is particularly dreamy.

Marvel Superheroes Pinball

Blame the Avengers for my Marvel comics kick this week, I remember getting one of these Hasbro pinball games for my eight birthday.

My neighbour got it for me because he knew I liked Captain America, it was cool and I loved the art but I didn't play with it much. 

Mostly because my dad had put a working pinball machine in his basement bar. It's hard to compete with the real thing. It's mine now BTW...

Ricochet racers were a cool concept on their own, it's a neat looking laser gun looking rifle that shot cars!

Sprinkle in Spider-Man and Captain America and few kids could resist them.

We're going to need a bigger crayon

I fondly remember getting the Spider-Man Vs Man Wolf book on Christmas eve 1978, it helped me pass the time until we got to the bigger presents. I'd like to reunite with it but I do worry that it will start a new obsession.

Web Spinning Toy Love

What's not to love about this 1977 licensing ad for Marvel Comics, it's like Spider-Man is dropping a treasure trove of Mego items on you along with classics like Crazy Foam and Colorforms.

That's a monsterous improvement over  the usual rain and bird poop that normally falls on me from above...
