The Mandala Effect

Does anyone else long for the days of funky stuff like geometric thread design art? I'd totally put one of these in my living room.

My god, those are incredible. I don't even know what they are. Some look like crazily-designed boogie boards, others look like weight watcher scales, etc.

You occasionally see a better (but usually sun-tired) one in Charity shops, or general auctions, you also find them at Car boot sales, but more often than not in a state!

Yow, they give me flashbacks to the stargate sequence in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Or the wormhole sequence in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

I suppose if you really wanted one all you'd need as parts are nails, a board, and yarn. Mostly you'd need the instructions. And there's probably plenty of books moldering away in used book stores on just that subject.
