The Empire Strikes Back Again!

Seeing as it's #1 at the box office again, let's relive when it was #1 in the toy aisle as well. It's hard to believe but prior to the release of Empire, the sales dip of SF toys had many publications asking is it all just a fad

I don't recall ever seeing the Rebel Transport. Our neighbor had the AT-AT. And my brother had the Imperial Cruiser. But the transport is pretty cool.

I love that they have the Imperial Troop Transport (ITT) listed there. I had that toy. It wasn't featured in any of the movies, and only appeared in one comic book at the time.
Ever since SW: Rebels, it's appearing all over :) It was in the Mandalorian and in Fallen Order. Awesomesauce.

My Imperial Troop Transport still works: "R2-D2, where are you?"
My mother got me the Slave I on clearance in 1981, and it's still in great shape. The Space Case and AT-AT model kit I have are different from the ones in the ad. The Empire Strikes Back is the Star Wars movie of which I have the most toys. Christmas 1980 covered that.

I dissected my Troop Transport. I wanted to see how it worked, and basically it used a stylus/plastic disk mechanism, similar to those in the talking View Master.

Like most things I take apart, I never got it put back together (due to lack of interest/lack of skill/distraction).
