Call these ugly if you will but for some reason I am completely comforted by the sight of them, they make me feel safe and happy. Must have had a good experience in a house decorated like this, the memories of which are buried deep in my psyche.
When we moved into our house (a 1964 Ranch) it had about a 4 foot x 5 foot bunch of these in the hall under the door bell. They had that wavy golden stuff in them too. We got most of them off without breaking them and a friend of ours wanted them.
I remember dancing in front of the mirrored tile wall in Sceverenia's house, singing Basketball Jones over and over. She played the whole Cheech and Chong record so many times and we didn't understand any of the jokes.
Even now, I wonder if I understood Basketball Jones...
It was 1972. my family had just moved into our new ranch-style suburban home when my mother looks at one short wall in the living room.
Noticing it was adjacent to the large picture window she says 'That wall needs to be tiled in mirrors.', some thirty-plus years later the same said mirror tiles are still on that particular wall.

Reminds me of Enter the Dragon or Conan the Destroyer.
I like these mirrored walls ( again head hung in shame)

Ahhh; the good old '70's decor and the music! To think I was recently mocked for liking the Afternoon Delight.
I am off to watch my entire Midnight Special DVD collection. Again.
Sorry; Laura... Basketball Jones isn't on there; but I may have CD. :D
