In 1979, a Star Trek daily comic strip appeared, tied into "Star Trek : The Motion Picture". What's weird about this is I somehow clipped and pasted an entire story into a scrap book as a kid, eventhough I have no recollection of doing so.
It does make sense, as a kid, I was really into the Gold Key and later Marvel Trek comics. So, for the next few Saturdays I'm going to post installments of this remarkably well drawn story.
Now here is installment 1 of Star Trek: The Comic Strip

wow, i dont remember this at all!
a great concept--take the non-stop, thrill-a-minute roller-coaster ride that was Star Trek: The Motion Picture and break it up into daily, 3-panel chunks, making it even longer and slower!
But Rob, at least they made the strip more colorful! :D
I kid. I'm a lifelong Trekkie, and this caught me by surprise. I have no memory of this at all, and I loved ST:TMP. I was 9, too, so I was the right age to be reading the comics and just loving this.
Thanks for the surprise. :)
This is too cool, I didn't know of this as well! and I consider myself a Trekkie (not a Trekker)!
I love the dialog, it tightens my spleen!
Thanks for posting these comic strips! I collected some of the Russ Manning and all the Al Williamson Star Wars strips, which were later colorized, expanded slightly, and published as high-quality monthlies, but I caught only a few of these from the newspapers.
