Like every other golden boy, Gary understands that leaving a trail of broken hearts is just part of the game. Without ever being told, Gary already knows there will be many Chips in his life and, at the risk of stretching a pun, he has to let the Chips fall where they may.
I'm slightly horrified by the way that it's nearly impossible to tell that Gary is actually a child and not a helmet haired newsreader from the mid 70s.
"Ha ha ha, that was a terrible accident, Jane, and now over to Chip with the sports roundup.'
