Today's Friday feature puts us in 1978 and the Mattel Shgoun Warriors line is in full swing with new additions such as the king of all monsters Godzilla! Which in terms of additions to teams, is pretty spectacular.
I have most of these, and most of them still with their boxes. in 1978, I was 13 years old, and still played actively with these when most other boys my age had moved on to sports and girls and cigarettes. Even then I was loathe to relinquish my childhood.
I basically used the Shogun Warriors as enemies to my Miconauts. I had some epic battles that lasted for days.
Like DVC, I had (and still have) the jumbo full-size Mazinga, but I had no clue about the 3-inch guys! Would have loved to have that bunch of mini-Shoguns in my arsenal.
I like the die-cast metal figures better than the huge plastic ones...more variety. Poseidon rules with Dragun a close second. Still have Mazinga with no arms though

LOVE them...I have a Raider...need to track down the others!
I still have Poseidon! Although I broke and lost his rocket packs probably a month after I got him.
I had Raydeen and Mazinga, if only I still did. It's disheartening how expensive they are now, otherwise I'd try to get them again.

My brother and I had the 'jumbos', and by the time these came out I was rushing headlong into 'Legoland Space', so I missed the boat!
These are darn-cool, and I wish I would've picked some up back then -- seriously collectible : )
