These GI Joe Wishbook spreads are some of my earliest memories, my mother even tells me that an overnight hospital stay once was made less traumatic by handing me a Christmas wishbook that was in her car.
No wonder that I smile every time I see one of these double-page spreads...

I think these were actually jc penney spreads. penny's always had a much better gi joe selection than sears. (i used to go to sleep with a sears or penny's catalog at night, and i'm not ashamed of it either!)
Love these spreads. That got me to thinking, are there sites with all the old wishbooks scanned and online? My first thought was that they would be at the internet archive site but there's not much there. Searching via google found me a couple hits right away. http://www.wishbookweb.com/ and https://christmas.musetechnical.com/. These look pretty good. Does Plaid Stallions know of even more?
Brian,
I'm so glad that I found the link to Plaid Stallions through Hugh Water's SSW blog.
My first issue of TOY-VENTURES just arrived and it looks to contain the same enthusiasm for collecting you display on your blog.
Keep up the good work.
2 pages of adventure! I still have my AT Jeep, Mobile Unit, and deep sea diving set with octopus seen here. My best friend had the ATV & mummy set, and I wanted it badly!
I recently bought the Adventure Team Headquarters, and it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. I remember seeing it at a toy show years ago (before Ebay), displayed with GI Joes in action poses. I remember wanting it, and knowing I couldn't afford it. I settled for a few loose Adventure Team outfits.
Twenty plus years later, the Adventure Team Headquarters playset is right in front of me. The lights and sound still work.
