I love seeing stuff like this 1977 article and especially a whole store display of Shindana merchandise like the JJ Walker plush, Wanda and of course, the amazing Slade Super Agent dolls.
If I understand well, this is like the "Bronze Bombers" action figures Olmec released in 1988... intended only for black people (I really like Bronze Bombers). Separate Joes, separates dolls... ain't it a little too "Malcolm X"? What do you call that? Black market? :) P.S.: I love Slade/Shaft the Agent.
Yeah, Olmec is definitely very similar to what Shindana was, a company trying to give Black America a face in the toy aisle. Like Olmec, they also expanded and offered a multi cultural offering of toys as well.
Slade Super Agent is by far my favourite Shindana toy but my talking Redd Foxx is a close second.
