The fad of carpeting the kitchen didn't take off in the 1970s. While not as gross as carpeting the bathroom, it's sole benefit were the deeply hypnotic patterns often made you forget why you were in the kitchen, thus discouraging snacks between meals.

My aunt had a carpeted kitchen. Her daughter still lives in the house today. Not sure if the carpet remains, however.
I need to dig up a pic of our 70's dining room carpet. It looked like avocado green stepping stones.
My home in New Jersey had a linoleum floor just like that. I really miss it. Thankfully, I still have all those old Christmas photos.
Our house had carpet in the kitchen and bathroom. There's nothing gross about either. Just don't be a slob.
I can't believe it! My parents had that exact carpet in our kitchen (in the blue design). When the pulled it up, it left large amounts of the black foam stuck to the floor.
One of our bathrooms had carpet...yeah, the house was built in the 70s. It also had wood paneling on the walls.
My childhood home had this awesome green-with-a-black-grid carpeting in the kitchen. The pattern made excellent roadways for my Matchbox cars.
