Star Bird was created by Milton Bradley, it's cool electronic features set it apart from the more obvious Star Wars inspired toys of the day (like this stuff). The command base practically begs you to use your star wars figures on it!
Oh YEEESSS!! Starbird ROCKED!! This substituted for a Y-Wing Fighter from Star Wars (since there wasn't one at the time). I loved the fins that detached and became "interceptor" ships.
I also still have my Starbird. Of course the ball turret and the interceptor fins are gone. It still worked the last time I tried it, though. Ok, the engine noise worked. I had a friend who fixed it in 1998 with a little solder.

A buddy of mine had the Star Bird, that thing was awesome. I ended up with a Big Trax.

Chunky B: ended up with a Big Trax? Man, I wanted one of those.
The Starbird ruled. First piece to be lost was the little gun on the ball turret. Then, the interceptors one by one...
It really was a genius toy. Simple and modular.

I still have it though!
SB: you've still got your Starbird?!
Jerk ;)
I am a packrat from a family of packrats. YET, all of my toys, even the large ones like the Starbird and my pile of Adventure People are missing.
All I have are my legos and a two extremely beat-up and piece-missing-y Robotech Defenders models
