Buck Rogers Disc Pistol

So, last Thursday when I posted about Star Trek Tracer Guns, i received a mystery gift from a friend, a Buck Rogers Tracer gun!

This seems like a sign from the universe but I'm not sure what it wants me to do....

Toy-Ventures 6: Star Blazers toys by Nomura

This week's installment of Toy-Ventures is all about the amazing action figure line based on the Television series we knew as "Star Blazers".

I get into my personal love of this series and why this is the toyline I wish I could have had as a kid.

Ray-Line Star Trek Tracer Gun Sell Sheets

Not only did I have a lot of fun with these as a kid (probably still disks in the carpet of my old house) but as a teen, I would trade the abundant overstock found in every toy store in Canada during the 1980s to trade for cool toys with US dealers. I love you Rayline!

I don't own any of these toys now, heck I'd settle for the extra ammo...

I do not remember the rifle but I wish that i did, it looks fantastic.

Delta Force Paratrooper

There is something so weird about seeing the Canon Films logo on a toy package, it gives me hope I'll someday find some "Deathwish 3" toys....

Toy-Ventures 5: The Lords of Light by PAC Toys

This week's installment of Toy-Ventures is all about the story PAC toys and their sadly too short toyline called the Lords of Light. I get into my relationship with their creator and what might have been with this 80s toy line that ended all too quickly.

Colouring Book Theatre: Shogun Warriors starring Great Mazinga

wonderbug Colouring Book It's been a long time since I did a CBT here at PlaidStallions but yesterday I found a treasure trove of books at a local shop including this gem.

I love the Shogun Warriors colouring books because they're kind of nuts but in a real good way.

They were the creation of Canadian cartoonist Owen McCarron (who also created the Marvel "Fun and Games" comic) and it's painfully obvious that he was probably given no back story to the characters and free reign to do whatever he wanted.

So he just had fun with it, it's so super absurd with no thought to scale or science that just kind of has a wonderful childlike charm to it. I imagine very few kids would complain.

Check it out after the jump and when you're done, check out this other book from the series.

Buy PowerLords or we'll shoot you

I was too old for the Power Lords when they came out but I remember kind of digging their design, they certainly weren't as child friendly as other action figure lines at the time and that appealed to my newly discovered cynicism.

I don't remember the characters in this ad from Toyfair 1984 and go figure, they seem like they're kind of expensive and probably saw a smaller release. Why are those toys always the prettiest?

Toy-Ventures 4: Black Hole Cereal Premiums

This week's installment of Toy-Ventures is all about the wonderful relationship between the Movie "The Black Hole", Shreddies cereal and Mego toys. It's one of my favourite childhood memories. Visit us online at www.plaidstallions.com Twitter: @plaidstallions

Barbie's Friend Ship

After showing Big Jim's Sky Commander earlier in the week, it seems fitting to show the Barbie Equivalent.  During this particular segment, Ken had the fish, so Barbie had to land the plane.
