Although it isn't vintage, I did find a great used Ernie hand puppet for $3 at a Montreal ComicCon. It's currently sitting on a shelf by my modem, along with some Nintendo plushies (Peach, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Bowser). :)
I had three out of four of these (no Cookie Monster) when these were new and I was rather young. Ernie was a particularly awesome likness of his television self. The Roosevelt Franklin hand puppet always puzzled me, as I started watching in about 1974 (the character was pulled in the late 1970s for reasons of political correctness), but I have no memories of him being on the show. Must not have made a big impression.
I had (and still have) 1, 2 and 4. As a child, I attempted some dental work on Ernie with a screwdriver and ended up poking a hole in his neck. I keep them on a shelf in my closet. My daughter is scared to death of my friends, as she refers to them.
I had (or have somewhere) Cookie Monster and an Oscar the Grouch. I was into puppets as a child and they ended up being stored with a bunch of other puppets. My mother sent them to my kids to play with and they either got lost, destroyed or thrown away.
Due to recent events, I'm limiting comments to google account holders only. Sorry if you're a decent person affected by this but the spam has gotten weird.

ReplyDeleteWow! I had that cookie monster puppet as a kid. The mouth was not enclosed so he could eat cookies.
