Almost Bionic

I'd never heard of the Funstuf Electrogenic arm until I started this blog but when it appeared on Ebay I had to have it. It's a crazy little item obviously meant to cash in on the popularity of the Six Million Dollar Man fad without paying a nickel for the rights.

What's great about it is, it really doesn't do anything. You roll it up your sleeve and it makes you look like Steve Austin, that's it, that's all. It comes with an "Electrogenic coil" (which looks like really nice string) and "Laser Beam Locator" (there it is!) but takes no batteries, so you have to provide your own "dun-nuh-nuh-nuh" sound effects.

Toymaker Funstuf made a lot of weird but addicting items like this, more on them very soon.

  1. If you have one of these on your left arm and a Commander Zack Power Powerarm on your right hand, I can tell you from personal experience that you'll look pretty sharp. However, it's my suspicion that it may look less impressive if you're over ten. I haven't tried that combo since then.

  4. Holy cow, one of my favorite childhood toys! How about a link to a larger image so I may print and dream?! Or sell it to me, couldn't find one on ebay....

  5. Reminds me of when I tricked out the dashboard and center console of my dad's car with stuff like that. I was turning it into K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider of course!

  8. There was a Television commercial for this item. It had a bunch of kids playing in the woods. The kid wearing the braclet was trying to rescue a lost friend. In gratitude for being "rescued" the friend puts out his hand to shake, and the "bionic" kid clains he must turn the power off before shaking. I was wondering if this would ever show up on the net, and now it has. Thanks

  9. I remember that TV commercial as well, but I'm not convinced that this is the toy. I seem to recall that the "bionic arm" toy in the commercial "did more stuff" -- shot a missile &etc. I may be misremembering, though, and you may be right...

  10. I believe you are correct. Funstuff would never spring for a TV spot (not that type of company)and the bracelet did have knobs that turned etc. So the electro-genic arm is a knock off of this other still lost item.

  11. I had this! I could not remember what it was called, however. Thanks for the memories.
