Ladies and Gents, meet the Maxi, The Wrap and The L &L, three outfits that I declare, hands down, the winners. I can totally close up shop today because, let's face it, job done! There is nothing that can touch these incredible outfits, except maybe this:
This image was graciously lent to me by the good people at Hakes Americana, one of the finest auction houses in the world and ending this week is a mint condition Maxi outfit. Seriously check it out here but be warned, as I may outbid you on this one. The idea that it's my exact waist size combined with my compulsion to needlessly embarrass my children may push me over the edge to win this.
All I gotta say; "is the Von Tropp family missing their curtains again?" That crazy nun has been stitching up more outfits. Next, she'll take them on a rowboat and teach them to sing...
ReplyDelete(as if by fate, the word code for this post is "Flair")
These men are no doubt what angels look like in a place called "Funky Heaven". I have never seen such an amazing amalgam of all things 70's embodied in a single glorious image.
ReplyDeleteAnd up yours Brick, I'm gonna win that damn Maxi! GAME ON!!
These are the outfits that destroyed the 70's.
ReplyDeleteNever stop doing this blog!
:)
Just when I think you've shown it all, you come out with a post that has me demanding that there is no possible way people of even reasonable intelligence wore this clothing.
ReplyDeleteI mean, you wouldn't even have dreamed this stuff up if you were making a parody of a 70s sci-fi film (which might be nice instead of something like MaGruber, actually)
I agree with Arkonbey, and even further, this doesn't even look very 70's. It looks comic bookish. Like Kung-Fu super hero style. But that was a 70's thing too, so I guess it fits. I'm on my way to the Auction now!
ReplyDeleteSUPER FLY!!!
"4363" reminds me of the uniforms on "Space : 1999" and "Ark II".
ReplyDeleteThey look like rejected Legion of Superheroes costume redesigns.
ReplyDeleteIt's a real shame that the photography doesn't capture the magic of the Maxi. That yellow in the picture is actually sparkling gold in real life, and it's just that much more awesome for it.
ReplyDeleteMan! Those suits are so loud, they might need a muffler !
ReplyDeleteI can't understand a man wearing a side buckle on his clothes or colors inspired by sherbert
