Viewmaster: The 70s child home theatre system
While I never had the luxury of talking Viewmaster or a projector ($50 could be used to purchase more action figures than I'd ever need) I did have the "Mr. Spock's Time Trek" reel set displayed and I loved it dearly. IMO, Filmation did no wrong in the 1970s IMO.
At first, I read the talking viewmaster as saying Let's go camping!
ReplyDeleteWhich still works, albeit in a more awkward kinda way. Do bird-people do much camping?
I had the Talking VM, it was huge and awkward, plus with 2 C batteries, rather heavy for a little kid.
ReplyDeleteThe discs actually had transparent records attached to them and a needle played the sound (just about like every other talking toy in the 70's).
You had to press a small button after advancing the picture or it would play the last sound over again. A mechanical marvel.
I had the Talking VM too, man, im old.
ReplyDeletethanks for posting this.
