The one overwhelming suggestion I got for trading cards are the Mattel Shogun Warriors, which is pretty easy to do considering how iconic they are.
Mazinga is special to me because he was the first vintage toy I bought at a yard sale, bought it from a friend of mine who kind of thought I was odd for doing it. I wonder what he'd think of me now....
Ooh, Mazinger! Never saw that here, but I did grow up as a fan of Goldorak (Grendizer), its sequel/spinoff, like most French speakers of my age. :)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Goldorak, I wish I'd find a fansubbed version of the series, to see whether the references to Mazinger were removed from the French dub or the series barely made any references to the original series (the manga is much more closely linked).
Nice!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, Mazinga... the only big Shogun that I owned as a kid. I'd kept him around for years and years, until he got crushed during a move.
Very sad.
MAZINGA! I had that one as well.
ReplyDeleteMan,
I will pay for this set of cards when it comes out, that last set was awesome!
My Mazinga still lives in a crawlspace at my parents' house; we bust him out for my 5-year-old to play with when we visit, which coincidentally will be happening this weekend (also planning to get out my Kenner Star Wars toys for him for the first time).
ReplyDeleteMine is in my office at home. My dog chewed up his spaceship brain, though.
ReplyDeletemy GAWD I remember this guy. It's been so long....but damnit if I'm not jealous of you. I need this card!
ReplyDeleteNice card of ''Great'' mazinger :)
