Hail to the King

As wonderfully creepy as the new Burger King ad campaign is, it should be remembered that the original characters were creepy (especially the Duke of Doubt) to begin with and that is when they weren't trying.

This doll has been the subject of a running joke in my life, for years, no matter what toy show or flea market i would attend, I would see one of these somewhere. It became a game between me and my wife who could be the first to find one.

MY Aunt managed a Burger King for a while, I swear she had 50 Star Wars glasses in her kitchen.

  1. As creepy as The King is, I still say McDonalds has it beat in terms of childhood night terrors.

First there's Ronald, and clowns by their very nature are freakishly scary.

    Remember Captain Crook? Scary.
How about the Hammurderer... er, excuse me, the Hamburglar?

Grimace never bothered me, until I found out he is supposed to represent McDonald's shakes... then I just became confused and disturbed.

  2. Wait, wait, wait... Grimace is a SHAKE???

I dunno why, but growing up, I always assumed he represented grape jelly! Although, considering McDonalds has never served grape jelly, I don't know WHY I thought that.

Then again, I don't think McD's has ever had purple milkshakes either, have they?

Totally O.T., but my word verification is "Carillyn". Looks like a trendy new baby name!
