Space-Age Spaceware

I'm loving this article from a 1979 issue of Starlog highlighting some of the cooler space age toys coming out that year. The only bummer to this is that two foot Galactica never made it to market but seriously should have....

  1. I immediately recognized that as Starlog from the title fonts alone!

  2. Very cool, the Rom breathing sounds may have been used for ill effect with many a prank call....

Those generation one electronic toys are pretty tough.I still have Rom,Starbird and Big Trak and they all work.My advice is simply to monitor battery wear and keep them away from heat, cold and humidity and they will last a long time.

  4. If you can use rechargeable batteries in them, that would reduce the chance of battery leakage to near 0%. Not sure if they would work in all cases though as the voltages are slightly different from alkaline batteries.
