Robot Man with 4 Faces

I've mentioned this Maskatron rip off before in our countdown of Bionic Knock Offs but I've always wanted to circle back to it because it's such a wonderful attempt to capture as many genres as possible with one cheap toy, so let's have a more detailed look shall we?

First off, the card art itself has that dimestore flavour that I completely adore. My figure is carded and as much as I love you all I'm not removing it to give a better look, fortunately my pal Dave over at the super fun Toynerd.com has a loose one, so this is a team up post!

The figure's masks include imitation brand GI Joe, Doctor Cornelius from Planet of the Apes and John Saxony Maskatron. Really scratching a lot of itches a kid would have in the mid 1970s.

The doll itself lacks all of Maskatron's cooler bells and whistles and he probably cost around 1/4 of the price.

I sincerely would like to know what scenario this mask could be used to  get you out of a jam....

Special thanks again to ToyNerd.com

Well, say you're a wanted man (robot, whatever) and you're at the zoo when the police arrive. You slap the monkey mask on and climb into the chimpanzee cage. The authorities are none the wiser. Of course, several minutes later the chimpanzees tear off your face and genitals, so maybe not your best idea.

  2. One boot looks bigger than the other so I figure he'd have a hard time getting away no matter which face he was using.

  3. I just got most of him—his body and just the ape mask! Assembling a mod outfit to go with his cool ape sideburns!

  4. His chest cavity features everything an android would need to function: a voltmeter, an oscilloscope, a cassette player, a steam pressure gauge and a random assortment of diodes and resistors. SCIENCE!!

  5. Hi Plaidstallions,

Do you know- Do Maskatron's masks fit on Robot Man's head? If they do, then the Maskatron masks would give you more stuff to do custom costumes + outfits, for a Robot Man figure.
    Any Thoughts?
