The Fashion Dolls of Doctor Moreau

What happens you combine Barbie with animal DNA? You get Mattel's Gorgeous Creatures line, which if I had to guess was an attempt to catch some heat off the popularity of Ms. Piggy.

I'm sure this line has an ardent fan base somewhere but I kind of find these guys disturbing, I prefer Blythe thank you very much.

  1. Yes, it was based off the divine swine, so much that they blatantly copied her. Ironically enough, Fisher Price made licensed Muppet toys, and that was later acquired by Mattel...though I wish that they would make an actual play line Miss Piggy doll today. :/

However, Tonner Doll has made some great Piggy collector dolls, including her famous "Pigs in Space" First Mate Piggy outfit-

  2. I had the Piggy doll. Her skin tone bustier and curves were a little shocking to my kid self. I have wondered what they were for years...

Of course this was posted in 2009, so I've just found out now, 2012.

    Thanks...

  3. I bought the horse one years ago on eBay. It was so weird that I had to get it!
