Diecast Heroes

Corgi was a legend in the diecast car industry, certainly because of the quality and it's licensed goods. Corgi was best known to children of the Seventies as the maker of "that batmobile" we all owned. By 1978, Corgi was grabbing every TV movie license it could and producing some of the finest diescast toy cars in the meantime. Here is a sampling of that goodness in 1978. .

  1. Man. The Corgi batmobile was the best.

I also like the 'suspect getting frisked' figure with the Starsky and Hutch car. I wonder, did it come with figures?

  2. I realize Kojak was bald, but he looks for all the world like a Tusken Raider in that picture.

  3. One more reason...okay, maybe the only reason...1978 was cooler than 2008.

    Take THAT, iPhone!

  4. I remember that my parents had gotten me both the Lotus (even though I hadn't seen any Bond films yet, let alone TSWLM) and the Jaguar (even though I hadn't seen any episodes of The Saint either).

I've soooooooooooooooo gotta track down one of those Supermobiles, though!! I loved that thing when I was a kid!!
